The Green Well is an American gastro pub located along Cherry Street in trendy East Hills. A very popular, environmentally conscience "green" restaurant, this place is traditionally packed with an upscale clientele who know what good food is all about. The fresh, creative menu features a global range of dishes prepared with ingredients from local farmers. Their beverages include a wide array of local craft brews and wines, all to support the local economy.
Green Well serves honest fare with a local flair in a green, neighborhood setting. Green Well's name was derived from the fact that they practice "green" principles throughout the restaurant. The restaurant is a LEED® certified built building with sustainable wall coverings, flooring, ceiling, tables, chairs, and lighting. They also practice "local first", the concept of obtaining as many ingredients as possible from local vendors and farms for their food. The menu is eclectic with specialties that include Mac and Cheese with chicken, bacon and peas added to a four-cheese blend. Their Fish Tacos are the best around with mojo marinade and lime sour cream, and the Barbecued Braised Pork is locally sourced prepared by smoking it first and then grilling the pork in port wine. This is served with sweet corn and andoullie, braised greens and a creamy polenta. Pigs in the Blanket, and the Green Well "Pad Thai" are also "must tries" at this creative culinary location. All of the items on the menu are interesting. Green Well offers sharing plates, sandwiches, salads, soups and starters as well as entrees. "Gastro pub" is a British term for a public house that specializes in high-quality food offering a relaxed atmosphere with an eclectric menu. Traditionally Gastro pubs offer draught beers on tap. Green Well has this with a range of local micro-brews that Michigan is becoming known for. The draught list changes regularly to give guests new exposure to the world of quality craft beers. Their four-tiered wine list offers a menu in which you can enjoy wines that work with special food pairings. This gives guests a chance to sample the variety and breath of the Green Well menu. On Sundays, Green Well is open until 9 p.m. - a great location to watch the game in a green, clean, well stocked pub with amazing food.
